Chapter Seven, Eight, and Nine Summary

Chapter Seven: An underwater camera and two others are positioned to record Derek's encounter with Alice. Raven assures Mickey that Derek's knife is merely a prop, but Mickey is skeptical. With cameras rolling, Derek enters the water and tells his audience that he must cross this water in order to survive, despite the presence of a huge alligator lurking below the surface. Mickey angers as Derek says he will defend himself by wrestling the gator and gouging out its eyes. Alice starts to move and Mickey inches toward a bamboo pole he had hidden nearby. The underwater camera captures Derek's flailing limbs dangerously close to Alice. Everyone is relieved when Derek emerges from the water, but Derek wants to do another take.
