Summary

Briony, Eldric and Rose were on the way to the courthouse, having all been called as witnesses. Briony attempted to get out of it by saying she would become ill but Father will not listen to her. It is at this point when the reader is introduced to Leanne, a stunningly beautiful woman, well dressed and with an attractive voice. She was a witch hunter, going around to any and all trials that she could to celebrate the conviction and hanging. The trial began and Eldric commented on the age of the Chime Child, who was, in fact, quite old. Rose was called to the stand and she testified that Nelly's and the witch's hair were not alike at all. Eldric went up next, but Briony could not watch him as she was reminded of the trial...
