Ever Geimausaddle

Ever Geimausaddle is the main character of the novel. Ever is the only son of Turtle Geimausaddle and Everardo Chavez. When Ever is just six months old, his parents drive from Oklahoma to Mexico to visit Ever’s paternal grandparents, Lucia and Javier Chavez. On the trip back, the family is stopped by border control policemen, who beat Everardo until he is almost dead. In the wake of the incident, the family worries that Ever will be haunted by a bad spirit. In the months following, Ever’s maternal grandmother, Lena Stopp, does everything she can to convince Turtle to move closer. She also makes a quilt for Ever that she hopes will cure him of the anger and upset Everardo’s incident may have caused him.
