Calling For a Blanket Dance Overview

In Oscar Hokeah's novel Calling for a Blanket Dance, after Ever Geimausaddle witnesses his father Everardo's brutal beating by border patrol police as a young boy, his family worries that he has been possessed by a bad spirit. Over the years following, each of Ever's family members becomes increasingly concerned for Ever's well-being. As Ever attempts to combat the deep fear and sadness inside of him, he also seeks redemption through his relationships with his loved ones. The novel explores themes including family, memory, and hope.
