Summary

In Chapter 1, Autumn Collins, a high school senior, recounts how she came to be locked in the library. She and some friends, including her best friend Lisa and the boy she has a crush on, Jeff Matson, had stopped by the library on Friday afternoon after school. Autumn had begged her parents for permission to spend the weekend with Lisa and several other girls at a cabin. Her parents agreed. The group's plans were to leave the library and stop off at another spot for a few hours to build a bonfire. Then, the girls would go on to the cabin.
