Poverty and Humility Lead to Heaven Summary

A king's son asks a poor man what he can do to get to heaven. The poor man tells him he must live in poverty and humility for seven years. The king's son changes clothes with the poor man and starts his life of poverty. After seven years, the king's son goes back to his father's palace but no one there recognizes him. He writes a letter to the queen telling of his miserable life but does not include his identity. The queen gives him a place to stay under the stairs. She also gives him food, but one of the servants does not take the son the food as instructed. As a result, the son becomes sick and finally dies.
