Chapter 14 Summary

There is a roadblock on the Sanibel Causeway leaving the islands. Traffic is backed up for a half mile. Hank Tracy is the FBI's regional director and is in charge of the operation. He reminds Agent Nussbaum, who is waving cars through, that each car is to be checked for the two girls. Agent Tracy gets a call on his cell phone. They found Agent Tarses dead. Nussbaum runs over to him. There are reports of multiple shots fired on Captiva. Tracy orders all agents to abandon the roadblock and head to the island.

Jenna and Yoshiko are running as fast as they can. They are being followed and shot at. Yoshiko reaches Derrick's boat first and jumps onto it followed quickly by Jenna. The windshield of the boat takes a hit. Yoshiko screams that there are no keys. They will have to...
