Chapter 8 Summary

While Yoshiko is showering, Jenna calls Dr. Pamela Martin at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. Dr. Martin had helped Jenna out on a case the year before. Dr. Martin has never encountered the condition that Jenna describes to her. She does think its curious that the two men were colleagues at one time. Jenna suggests that it could be a mutated virus. Dr. Martin promises to dig into the matter and get back to Jenna.

Jenna makes another call - to an FBI agent who she knows back home. Agent Dufresne listens closely as Jenna describes the deaths of the two men and the strange substance found inside of them. He agrees that the story is odd but tries to dissuade her of thoughts of a conspiracy. He was told by his superior that she might be calling him and was...
