Summary

“A Rich Man” follows Horace and Loneese Perkins, two lovers who find themselves disenchanted with their marriage well into their 60s when it becomes clear that each of them has committed infidelity against the other. However, even as they grow to despise one another, neither is willing to leave the apartment they have spent their lives together fixing up. Eventually, Loneese succumbs to a heart ailment, and dies in a nearby hospital. Once she passes away, Horace finds that his sex drive is reawakened. Horace begins seducing younger women, namely one named Elaine Cunningham. After sleeping with Horace one night, Elaine wakes up and hears a disembodied woman’s voice address her by name while she looks at a photograph of Horace and Loneese. After some time, Elaine begins seeing a man named Darnell Mudd, and Horace begins sleeping...
