Hospital

The majority of the story takes place in the hospital ward where the boy is receiving treatment for his leukemia. Titania walks through the ward with the boy on days when he is feeling good, and she notices all the parents who are in a similar situation with their children. While Titania notices that she is surrounded by sadness and grief, she also sees the extreme love that radiates from the parents in the ward. She is overwhelmed and confused by this love, as she wonders why it is not more effective in protecting the children. She herself has decorated the boy's room with elements of fairy land, making it more comfortable and enjoyable for him, but by the end of the story she realizes that she, too, is powerless to save his life.
