Summary

In Chapter 4 Ynyr and Morwen head back to the ruined castle where they find the crone. But Irene shows up too. Irene and Ursule argue and Morwen finally realizes Ursule is her grandmother. Irene accuses Morwen of stealing the crystal. Ursule asks Irene who gave her Morwen, suggesting Morwen is not Lord Lewelyn’s daughter, but Morwen does not immediately recognize the significance of the question. Morwen and Ursule go to calm Ynyr and Ursule tells her granddaughter that “The gift is strong in you” (278). Morwen wants to stay with her grandmother, but Irene insists they leave. Morwen promises to return the next morning, although Irene forbids it. Back at Morgan Hall, Irene demands Morwen give back the crystal, but Morwen refuses until she gets to see Ursule again.
