Chapter 14-17 Summary

In chapter fourteen, John is remembering the fact that his first warning from the Lady had come from Two Bears. John had just recently started working at the college when Two Bears arrived. John at first was panicked. Two Bears tells John that when he became a Knight of the Word it was forever and that John cannot turn away from that. Two Bears says that many have worked as Knights of the Word and John is not the only one who has ever made a mistake or has had innocents die. Two Bears says it is not John's place to accept responsibility for the death of the children, but John says he cannot separate himself from the feeling that he should have done more. John says there is no way that he would ever be willing to serve the Void...
