Summary

In “Unknown,” El decided that she never wanted to be in an enclave. She had always resented her mother for not joining one, and El had promised that her goal in life was to be impressive enough during school to get invited into an enclave, but she could not deny the truth any more. She hated their privilege and wanted nothing to do with them. The enclaves who had built The Scholomance had originally only let their children in, but then they started taking independents, not to be kind and benevolent, but to serve as protection and labor for their own children. El understood their logic, but hated them for it, and did not want to be a part of their corruption.
