Lesson

1. Discuss the execution of Fr. Giordano Bruno. What was unusual about the execution? How was Bruno executed? What happened to the remains? How did Bruno's work influence and/or parallel Galileo's work regarding Copernicanism? Why does the author believe there is a sense of irony in Bruno's death regarding Galileo and Maria Celeste? Discuss the real reason Bruno was executed and why heresy could not be the true crime.

2. Write a 750-word biography on Giordano Bruno. What is the most common misconception regarding Bruno's death? Also include Bruno's work on Copernican theories and any advancement made through his work.

3. There are only two pictures of Bruno in existence. Draw a picture of Bruno as he might have appeared...
