Lesson

Lead the class in a discussion about California. Where is it located? What are some of the major cities are located in California? What images does the name conjure up for the students? Have any of the students ever lived or visited California? What were the experiences like? What is California known for? What can the students offer about their impressions of the area?

Divide the class into small groups and have them create a documentary style travelogue about California during the 1930s. They should use images and researched facts for their presentation which should be shared with the class.
