Summary

In Chapter 35, the scythes’ apprentices completed their tests, so that the scythes had time to digest the candidates’ debates. Scythe Morrison spoke to Citra about how Scythe Goddard was not entirely himself since his head was only 7% of his body. The scythes voted. Right before High Blade Xenocrates called time, Citra called for an inquest with the help of Scythe Cervantes, a loyal old-guard scythe. Citra said that Scythe Goddard was not enough of a scythe to become High Blade. Xenocrates announced that he would bring the inquest to the World Council as his first task as Grandslayer. This delayed the reading of the votes until after the inquest. Later, the old-guard scythes commended Citra on her strategy.
