Summary

In Chapter 16, Jude reminds herself that she cannot be distracted and that she needs to be patient. She continues to be embarrassed about the sexual encounter with Cardan, thinking about her inexperience. Jude, wearing the new clothing that Taryn arranged for her, holds a knife to Locke's throat. He is shocked because he initially thinks she is Taryn. Jude says she is tired of being humiliated by Locke and that he will not “run around” on Taryn. Locke points out that they are going to be family soon. Jude agrees but says Locke has to so some things, specifically related to how he treats Jude. She also points out that Locke stole Cardan's love interest (Nicasia) then discarded her for for Taryn.
