Book 2, Part 6, Chapters 1 - 10 Summary

In Chapters 1, 2, and 3 Roland and the group, with the help of Detta, decipher Blaine's riddle by pushing the buttons of all prime numbers between one and one hundred on the number pad backwards starting with the biggest number. In Chapter 4, the group boards Blaine just as the gas explosions occur. They marvel at the luxury of Blaine's cabin. In Chapters 5 and 6 Blaine becomes translucent so his passengers can see the city, and the cloud of purple gas, around them. In Chapters 7 and 8, the train moves through a hole in the city wall of Lud into the true wastelands. When Blaine get to the point that he generally speeds up, he returns the walls and his passengers are no longer able to see the desolation and destruction below them.
