Book 2, Part 4, Chapters 11 - 25 Summary

In Chapter 11, Si responds to Jake's request to tell about Blaine. Si tells them that Blaine runs on a raised rail. Si says that the train does not run but did in his lifetime. Si reports that after the train passed, there was always a bang like an explosion. Eddie recognizes this bang as being a sonic boom. He says the train, which is the only machine made by the Great Old Ones that he saw running, was a work of the devil. In Chapter 12, Mercy surprises the group by joining in the conversation. Aunt Talitha allows her to join the group. Mercy tells them there are two monorails, one of which she heard running as recently as seven years ago. She tells them the train went into the wastelands on the other side of the city...
