Book 2, Part 4, Chapters 1 - 10 Summary

Four days after Jake enters Roland's world Jake is awakened by a billy-bumbler. To his surprise, the billy-bumbler responds to his question with the word "Oy." Roland is surprised that the bumbler still remembers humans and mimics their speech. Jake feeds the bumbler a bite of a gunslinger burrito. When Eddie wakes up and speaks, however, the animal runs away. Roland comforts Jake by telling him the animal will be back. As they talk, the sound of drums begins in the distance. In Chapter 2, as the group draws closer to the city, they discuss what type of people, if any, they might find there. They also discover that the bumbler is following them.

In Chapter 3, Eddie takes Jake's father's gun as the group nears a small town where Roland believes there may still be people living. Roland hopes if there are people there, they will be able...
