Book 1, Part 3, Chapters 1 - 15 Summary

In Chapter 1, Eddie is awakened by a voice instructing him to tell Roland to hold the key because it will make the voices go away. Although Eddie does not know from whom this suggestion came, he is willing to try anything to help his friend recapture his sanity. When Roland takes the key, the voices stop, just as Jake had told Eddie they would. In Chapter 2, Roland sleeps with the key. It is his first night of sleep in several months. In Chapter 3, Jake dreams he finds a stone marker with the words "TRAVELER, BEYOND LIES MID-WORLD."
