Book 1, Part 1, Chapters 14 - 32 Summary

In Chapter 14, Roland tells Eddie and Susannah the story of tracking Walter. He comes to a way station where his memory divides. In one story, Roland stays only a night at the way station. In the other story, Roland meets a boy from New York City named Jake. The boy comes from New York to Roland's world when he is pushed in front of a car by Walter and killed. In Chapter 15, Roland tells Susannah and Eddie that after the boy was killed in his world, Roland caught up with Walter, but Walter was dead. At this point Roland took Walter's jawbone from his skull.

In Chapter 16, Eddie tries to convince Roland that he should try to forget the doubled or divided memories he is having. As they talk Roland throws the jawbone into the fire. In...
