Chapters 18-19 Summary

The train pulls out of the station. Adelaide addresses all of them telling them how she will rally the troops and population at Andersbad and then march to Wendelstein. When the group disperses, Adelaide bestows the Order of St. Stephen on Jim, making him a member of the nobility. Becky receives the Most Noble Order of the Red Eagle or Second Class.

In the locomotive cab, one of the soldiers, Private Schweigner, hits the student, Willi, over the head with the shovel, knocking him off the train. The Private jumps from the train, knowing that he left the boiler to explode.

The students distribute the leaflets in the city. The German commander had arrested Godel and now has Prince Leopold with them. He orders him returned to the Palace as he begins to realize what Godel's plan was.
