Chapter 7 Summary

As news of the King's death spread around the castle, Jim is summoned by Count Thalgau. They must now be concerned with advising and protecting King Rudolf. The Count explains how Godel holds a powerful and hereditary position as head of the Royal Household and can't be fired. Jim is given an official position in the Royal Household much to Godel's dismay.

Jim spent the rest of the morning observing the various dignitaries until he was summoned by Adelaide. Jim asks her if she knows anything about Prince Leopold. Adelaide only knows that there was an older brother. Becky comments on how Rudolf was always kept out of politics and now is unprepared to be king. They must all help him which means that Jim had to learn what was happening among the people.
