Summary

In Chapter 33, Bethany is continuing to live the life she might have had if her father had not vanished. Her family is in a book, and her father gives her a Pegasus as a gift. She flies away while her parents watch from the ground. Her mother is happy but says Bethany needs to stay out of other stories because “I'm tired of having to fix them” (272). Bethany is thrilled with her situation but a voice calls to her, reminding her that the Magister has had Jonathan write Bethany into this story, and that it is not her real life. Bethany asks the voice to identify himself, and he says he is “Nobody important” (274). Nobody reminds her that Owen is trapped, and that snaps Bethany out of her reverie.
