Summary

In Chapter 12, Bethany regains consciousness in Jonathan Porterhouse's library, but does not know where she is. Magister enters and Bethany assumes they are still in the Kiel Gnomenfoot book. Magister explains that he took some of Bethany's power in order to leave his book, and that they are at Jonathan's house. Bethany asks where Owen is and Magister explains it. Bethany is relieved that he can do no more damage, but realizes he is trapped until Magister releases him. Magister asks how the writing happens. He wants to know if Jonathan can see Magister's world, or if he is simply making up the events that happen there. Bethany admits that she is not certain about the writing process. Kiel points out that he learned a secret about his identity, and that he learned to live with it. Magister says this situation is different...
