Audrey Wyler

Audrey Wyler is a widow who lives on Poplar Street. Two summers ago Audrey's brother, Bill, and his family took a cross country trip to visit friends in California. The family was killed in a drive by shooting, leaving their sole surviving child, Seth, in Audrey's care. Audrey and her husband were thrilled at first to take custody of Seth, but soon came to realize that Seth had some entity living inside him that was cruel and could control them in ways that are supernatural.

Audrey's husband, Herb, kills himself after living with the odd thing inside of Seth for more than a year. This leaves Audrey alone with Seth and this other entity that calls itself Tak. Audrey learns to hide in her mind in a place that is built around the memories of a day she spent in Mohonk with a college friend...
