Summary

Chapter 27

Jason and Piper wander around the island for a bit, reading through the book and trying to find Achelous. They discern that he is a god of the river. They end up stumbling upon him by accident, getting near a river that seemed to compel them to enter. Just like Hercules, he is friendly at first, talking about the past and how he had a feud with Hercules as they competed for the heart of the same woman. Hercules ended up winning, but Hera twisted the relationship so Hercules was poisoned and his new wife killed. They explain that they need his horn in order to get passage through to stop Gaea, but Achelous refuses to give it to them without a fight.

Piper gets swept up by the river, but before she drowns she is able to use her charm...
