Hong Kong

Canton is a walled city on the Chinese mainland where foreigners are not allowed.

Canton Settlement

Canton Settlement is in China, about one-fourth mile from the walled city of Canton, and the only place where foreigners are allowed. There is a walled-in settlement where they can stay during the winter shipping months. Dirk owns a building there that was once owned by the East Indian Company.

Whampoa

Whampoa is an island near Canton. It is where the British fleet was headquartered during the war with China.
