Chapter 36 Summary

Dirk reads the documents at May-may's house. When he finishes the documents, May-may wants to talk but Dirk asks for few minutes to think. They had previously talked about Mary Sinclair, Culum, and the cinchona bark. May-may says that Mary's engagement with Glessing is over after what has happened no matter what, but Dirk disagrees. There is no reason for Horatio or Glessing to know about the abortion. May-may decides to send her Elder Sister to talk to Mary.

Dirk is concerned about the briefcase documents that he has just read. There is a secret report that was prepared for the Russian Tsar and maps of Russia and China.
