Chapter Twenty-Seven Summary
On her way out, Cassie stops in her laboratory. She considers how little one can tell from looking at the scars on bones. Arriving at Ophelia's, Cassie tells her friend the story of her marriage. Ophelia calls a divorce attorney and gets cash from Cassie's accounts for her. Cassie contacts Will to tell him she is divorcing, and that she is scared. He is angry at Alex, but assures her that she is brave.
Cassie is at an arranged press conference. Ophelia is with her, holding the baby. Cassie announces to the press that she has filed for divorce on the grounds of extreme cruelty, and inquiries should be directed to her lawyer.
