Chapter 11 Summary

Grandma is a former model. As soon as she sees Kate, she starts talking about how she needs to get her eyebrows done. Grandma also puts down dad for playing video games and quitting his job to sell vitamins. Kate's mom, Sharon, tells them that her father created medicines, but that he was also addicted to the pain killers he created, was a workaholic and not happy when he was at home.

Chapter 11 Analysis

Kate's mom comes from a family with money. The money, however, did not make them a happy family. In a twist of irony, Sharon marries a man she loves and they have two kids they love, but they don't have a lot of money. Sharon says they are happy, but it seems as if their financial troubles are getting in the way of the family's overall happiness.
