Chapters 5 - 6 Summary

Chapter 5: Dess, Jonathan, Rex and Melissa visit Madeleine to compare stories of what happened during the eclipse. Dess reflects on how they first found Madeleine a few weeks before. Melissa had used her mindcasting to read Dess' dreams in which Dess had discovered the location of Madeleine in latitude and longitude. This makes Dess bitter.

Melissa and Madeleine communicate through mindcasting to understand what the other experienced earlier that day. While they are in the attic, Jonathan turns on the television and hears a news story of a young girl who had disappeared at 9 a.m. Dess overhears this and realizes it was during the eclipse. She starts remembering things she learned about the Big Bang Theory and how galaxies were formed. She presents a theory to the others; that the blue time is weakened in some places and can snap...
