Reacher heads toward Warburton and the copse of trees he noticed both times he went to the prison. It would be the perfect place to make a stand. He sped up just before getting there to give him time to pull in and bail out of the car with the gun Roscoe had given him. He let them pull in, and get out of their vehicle. They searched for him, and when they returned, he shot them dead. He knew he had to act quickly, so he began working immediately. He opened the trunk of their car intending to put them into it, and instead finds the body of Assistant Warden Spivey. Though he hadn't told Reacher anything, someone wasn't taking any chances. Spivey had been shot in the head at close range......
