Chapter 5 Summary

Chief Morrison has made it known that he wants both Reacher and Hubble taken to the state facility for the weekend - case closed. Finlay apologizes to Reacher, but says his hands are tied. Reacher calls Finlay a coward, telling him that's the only reason he is being locked up. Finlay stays calm, replying that he would deal with the Chief on Monday if necessary. Reacher knows he's running out of time, so he surprises the detective by telling him things about himself that Reacher couldn't have known. Once he has Finlay's attention, he asks him to run the prints on the victim one more time because something didn't seem right. Handcuffed to Hubble, Reacher gets on the bus for Warburton. They ride past the diner, Hubble silent in the seat beside him......
