Summary

Michelle was forced to stay naked through February. She begged him to give her something to put on but he refused. She was freezing; her lips were numb and she could see her breath in the room. In March he brought her a small color TV. He warned her not to get used to it because she wouldn’t have it long. She was not allowed to watch the news or any black programs. But Michelle was able to sneak in some news shows. She watched the news story about Elizabeth Smart being found alive. She watched situation comedies which was an escape from her dire reality.

After almost eight months without a shower, Castro told her she could take one because she stank. The bathroom, on the first floor, was as filthy as the rest of the house...
