Summary

Michelle Knight woke up early on that September 2013 morning. She thought about her son. What did he look like? Was he happy? Did he wonder about her? He’d been adopted when he was four and the family didn’t want her to interfere with their lives together. Yet, Michelle longed to see him. Her lawyer, Peggy, received some photos of Joey from the family but they didn’t want them publicized. As soon as Michelle looked at the first photo, she saw that Joey looked just like her. She was pleased that in all the photos, Joey looked happy. The photos made Michelle miss Joey all the more and long to be with him. She hoped to be with him again. She had lost him when he was two-and-a-half and again after she was rescued from her kidnapper.
