Shadowhunter

A person who sees things as they really are, therefore sees the demons and other magical creatures. Shadowhunters are basically the justice-keepers of the underworld.

Mundane

The term used to describe ordinary humans who are not shadowhunters and who are unable to see demons and other magical creatures.

Church

The name of the cat who lives at the Institute and who serves as a guide, taking those who arrive in the building to the locations of those they seek.

The Institute

Housed in a former church, this is the headquarters of the shadowhunters in New York.

Glamour

A means of hiding the truth from humans. A shadowhunter might use glamour to hide themselves or even to disguise an entire building. Only other shadowhunters are able to see through the glamour.
