Clary

Her real name is Clarissa and she has grown up without knowing about the Shadowhunters or that her mother has spent all of Clary's life hiding from them. Clary is a self-confident teenager with an artistic ability. Clary learns that she has always been able to see through the "glamour" that hides the demons and other ugly truths from the human world, but that her mother has taken her regularly to visit a warlock in order to have the memories erased, keeping Clary in the dark about her true abilities. Clary eventually comes to realize that her mother was trying to keep her safe from the lifestyle of the shadowhunter and from Clary's father, Valentine.
