Chapters 18 and 19 Summary

In chapter eighteen, Clary is dropped in the ship's hold near Maia who tells her that Simon is dead. Jace and Luke get aboard the ship and are met by countless demons. Jace begins to fight and Luke turns into a werewolf to join the battle. Back in the hold, Clary can't believe that Simon is dead but Maia says she saw it happen, and that Simon's body had been left in the cell. Clary comes up with a new rune to create an opening in a wall and she and Maia begin trying to find their way out of the hold. Valentine finds Clary but Maia escapes.

Back on the deck, a large group of shadowhunters arrive and join the battle with Jace and Luke. Luke is injured and Jace tries to reach him but the Inquisitor pulls him aside...
