Chapter 17 Summary

Neither Jason nor Ishmael is dead, though both are badly wounded. A Canadian doctor staying at Tranquility Inn and an acquaintance of Marie agrees to tend to them on the condition of anonymity. Ishmael is sent to a hospital on Martinique while Jason demands only an Ace bandage for his neck wound. Jason tells St. Jacques about the Crown governor being the Jackal's contact there. Johnny has a difficult time coming to grips with that fact though he had often wondered why someone with his connections had accepted that position rather than a much higher profile one. Clearly, St. Jacques says, he was banished by his government. "Carlos probably found out why a long time ago and has him on a list." (Page 232)
