Chapter 16 Summary

It's a hot afternoon the next day. Bourne and Jean-Pierre Fontaigne spot four priests walking along the beach giving condolences to the bereaved. Carlos is not among them, but it his trademark to have them there. Bourne sends for three costume changes and he and Fontaigne discuss ways to get Carlos and protect the innocent people of Tranquility Inn. Bourne learns from Fontaigne that his first contact on the island came from the Crown Governor, who has left word that he is out on his boat and not to be contacted.

Bourne meets Ishmael, a strapping young boxer, and enlists him to aid in cornering the Jackal. Through a complicated manoeuvre, Bourne manages to speak to the one priest he knows will relay his words to the Jackal. The stage is now set. Thinking.....
