Chapter 13 Summary

After Alex listens to a bugged phone call to Gates, presumably from the Jackal, he limps to his easy chair and tries to sort out what he has just learned. He goes back to his recorder and replays the tape, picking up on the phrase "I hired a former judge who has contacts." (Page 168) He knows this is information that Jason Bourne could handle but that David Webb was still too near the surface. Alex decides to call Tranquility Inn and finds that John is on the main island. The desk clerk gives him John's number where he can be reached. When Alex tells John about the "judge," John says he is already at the Inn. He mentions the "old gentleman from Paris" and Alex puts it all together - the Jackal's.....
