Chapter 10 Summary

On the Manassas estate of Gen. Swayne, Bourne silently kills a guard dog and observes security guards in motorized vehicles. He also sees the Gen. and his wife and a sergeant, who lives in a cabin at the entrance of the estate. They are having a heated argument, but Bourne cannot overhear their conversation. The sergeant has his arm around the General's wife. Bourne recognizes Swayne as the procurement officer, who had let down the Saigon Medusa unit by not delivering much needed supplies. Bourne traps the security guards by placing a tree limb partially across the road leading up to the mansion on the estate.
