Chapter 5 Summary

With David Webb receding and Jason Bourne coming to the fore, he goes to an old acquaintance he has done business with for many years to get forged identification papers. The friend's name is "Cactus" and, like Bourne, he is not as young as he once was. A black man, living in a dangerous neighbourhood, he is happy to see his old friend and cautions him against driving his car in that area. The forged papers done, Bourne goes circuitously into D. C. to buy clothes and items he will need in his work. After buying a complete change of clothes and David Webb's garments discarded into a sewer grate, Bourne continues on to his next stop, a hotel suite arranged by Alex.

After Jason has removed all the labels from his new clothing.....
