Chapter 3 Summary

Conklin fills in the CIA directors with the real story of Jason Bourne, an assassin that had been killed and reincarnated in the body of David Webb and supposedly went after the Jackal in Hong Kong where he was killed. Conklin, with the aid of Dr. Panov and Webb's caring wife, had brought David Webb back to reality and allowed the world of espionage to believe that Jason Bourne was dead. Bourne had been lured to Hong Kong by the CIA to dispose of an impostor, who was killing people and claiming to be Bourne. The dreadful thing about that whole incident was that the CIA had kidnapped Webb's family and left a trail for Bourne to follow to get him into Hong Kong.
