Chapter 1 Summary

This novel, which is about survival in a deadly atmosphere of international intrigue, tells the story of an American assassin, Jason Bourne, who must discard his real identity of David Webb, college professor, and once again assume his persona of cold blooded assassin.

The first short chapter begins with the challenge of Carlos the Jackal, who has discovered that Jason Bourne is still alive after the fifteen years since he supposedly died. Bourne had, in the past, thwarted the Jackal, who has a personal vendetta against him. It is a game of ultimate one upsmanship that can only end in the destruction of Bourne or the Jackal. To draw Bourne out, an assassination attempt is made on the lives of two people who know the real story of Bourne, aka David Webb. The two.....
