In the Introduction, the author sets the stage for what he intends to write about in the book. This lesson focuses on the author and his philosophy regarding prophets.

Lesson

1. Class discussion: As a class discuss what the author states is his purpose or aim in writing this book. Did he want to write historical information about the prophets? His own ideas? Give readers a basis for further study? Did he want his readers to understand the prophets?

2. Group activity: Divide the class into groups. Have them discuss the various ways the author describes that people have looked at or explained the prophets. Pan-theological? Pan-psychological? Sociological explanation? Historical? How does the author intend to describe/explain the prophets? Come together and briefly discuss the conclusions.
