Summary

In Chapter 24, Andromeda thinks about Kelela's words. She admits that Magnus might have told her about the engagement “if it had mattered” (215). She joins Magnus in the library. He is appalled at the scars on her body – the result of Jember's training. Andromeda says Jember's lessons taught her to survive, and that she recovered from each one. She claims there is nothing good about Jember other than his work. She says “he bought me from my parents to get me away from terrible people” and “he cares about me like I care for him” (218). Magnus is horrified that her parents sold her. They discuss Andromeda's tendency to look at the positive. Magnus says Kelela helped him understand the engagement from Andromeda's perspective, and he apologizes. Andromeda says she does not trust easily.
