Summary

In Chapter 13, Ma-mee insists on touching Joshua's hands to ensure he is not more seriously hurt. Cille is briefly concerned, then makes light of Ma-mee's concern and says, “Could've been worse.” Christophe says he is going to find some boards in case they wind up in the path of the approaching hurricane. Ma-mee tells him to take a shower and help take care of Joshua. Christophe agrees. Ma-mee is surprised to hear Joshua say “Love you” to Laila, though she has noticed his protectiveness. Joshua struggles to eat with his bandaged hands, and Christophe helps. That night, Joshua finds Christophe in the shed, making bags of marijuana. He is surprised by the amount.
